The Company’s History

Off the back of the 2013 - 2016 Robot Wars UK Tour, the company Roaming Robots has already shown what can be achieved in terms of providing exciting, dynamic shows around the Uk.

Roaming Robots Ltd, the company behind the new Extreme Robots show, is Europe’s leading, trend setting robotic entertainments company. A position we have held for over 14 years. Always aiming to improve our events and services, constantly making steps forwards, has resulted in the creation of this new and exciting show.

The company comprises of a number of unique individuals who have taken part on the hit TV show Robot Wars which of course helps us create the best events around. Having all enjoyed building robots and competing in the fighting robots community for many years, in 2002 we decided it was time to give something back, by providing a live tour which enables the fans of the show to see the action live rather than sitting at home watching it on TV.

The company’s success is not only due to the hard work and determination of the crew, but also down to one main key person, namely our Director John Findlay. Having graduated from Coventry University with a Beng Automotive Engineering Design degree, it was John who decided to take the plunge and start Roaming Robots and is mainly responsible for the continued interest of the UK's Fighting Robots. Best known for his entries in Robot Wars ( T-bone in series 5 and Ripper in Series 7 ) During the 14 year spell of working in the entertainment industry he has been involved in many different projects and TV shows. Guinness World record highest popping toaster, BBC2 - Robot Wars, BBC3 - Mechanoids, BBC - Geronimo, BBC -Epic Win, Sky 1 - Gadget Geeks, are just a few. Click HERE to see more.

The first battle arena was built and used in 2002 at an event in Nottinghamshire, England hosted by the famous Stinger Team. Since this event Roaming Robots has been developing at a rapid rate. Experiences gained from holding hundreds of small and large events at a variety of venues, means that we now have the right arena and facilities for providing exciting live robot events worthy of being back on TV!!!!

March 2011 saw a huge investment into the company by Trevor Bratty, that took the company to another level leaving the competition behind! A re-branded show, new arena, new pay to drive robots, are just a few of the many things which improved, plus the final piece in the jigsaw of expansion was the Robot Wars Live Tour!! The Robot Wars tour ran between 2013 and 2016, with 2016 being a record breaking year for ticket sales and sold out shows all over the UK a great platform from which to launch this new show.

With the TV show heading back on BBC2, 2017 is the time for the next step. It is time to go Extreme, with the new show "Extreme Robots", building on the platform that's been created throughout the Robot Wars Tour events over the last 3 years.

The stars of Robot wars leave the safety of the TV studio to enter the Extreme Arena. Who will rise and who will fall. Featuring all your favourite robotic stars new and old, plus lots of amazing new features exclusive to Extreme Robots. Don't miss the biggest interactive live show in the UK!!
